#07 | Durrës-Kotor

Early in the morning I arrive in Durrës (Albania) and cross the border to leave the European Union. The road takes me to Skadar Lake, the third largest lake in Europe located between Albania and Montenegro. A place with spectacular views and beautiful routes.

I follow my route until I reach Jezerski peak where the mausoleum of Petar II is located. This poet, philosopher, bishop, monarch and leader specifically requested to be buried in a small chapel that had been built while he lived on top of the mountain.

To get out of there I take the Kotor Serpentine, a road route through the bay, which leads to the walled city of Kotor, a wonder of the Balkans and the Adriatic coast.

I arrive at the old town, declared a Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 1979, and I enjoy the medieval air that still breathes there, albeit full of restaurants and attractions for tourists. Very interesting!
